Education: UNH, Cornell University
Dr. Butterfield is the founder of Windham Animal Hospital. He was born in Windham, did his undergraduate studies at UNH, and graduated from Cornell University with his Veterinary degree.
Currently residing in Derry with his wife of over 40 years, he has 3 grown children all in the health profession. They live with their pets, which include 5 cats, a dog, and 7 horses. A real Renaissance man, Dr. Butterfield has many interests and talents; he is a member of the Granite Statesmen Acapella chorus and Rotary International as well as numerous horse organizations. He breeds, raises and drives crossbred sport horses, and loves skating, skiing, hiking and reading.
Dr. Butterfield’s style of veterinary medicine is based on what is best for that particular pet – he doesn’t believe in hard, fast, rigid guidelines, since every pet and household is different. He feels his job is to advise and guide the pet’s advocate in the decisions they make by providing the necessary information to make the right choice. Dr. Butterfield’s goal is to live a good productive life… one that has made a difference. For him, that also means putting family and friends above all things.
